About Our World Project

Welcome to the "About Us" page for Our World Project, based in South Paris, Maine. We aim to give parents and educators resources and ideas to create their own geography projects at home and in school. Our goal is to make learning about geography fun and engaging for students of all ages. Learn how we increase student engagement, build critical thinking skills, and support language development. Discover the importance of family involvement and social-emotional growth through geography.

Our mission

Our mission for  Our World Project is to increase student engagement and motivation through fun geography projects. We strive to build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, we also support language development through engaging discussions and storytelling. We want to foster social-emotional growth and collaboration among students and allow for meaningful family involvement. Geography is meant to be fun!

Home extension activities

Families are encouraged to continue learning at home through various activities such as cooking a meal from another culture, exploring maps and globes together, reading multicultural books, attending community cultural events, and discussing family heritage and traditions. These home extension activities reinforce what students learn in the classroom and deepen their understanding of the world.

About the geography fair

Our World Project culminates in a classroom geography fair where students showcase their projects. This event allows students to present their work, share their knowledge, and celebrate their achievements with peers, teachers, and family members. The geography fair not only enhances students' presentation skills but also provides a platform for them to learn from each other and appreciate the diversity of our world.

"Geography is now my favorite subject thanks to the fun projects and activities. I look forward to every geography class!"

A happy student
